Stade Mayol, Toulon
A good start for Peter Taylor's under 20 England team in the Toulon tournment. The Tunisian's played well enough, drawing some good saves from Reading young goalie Jamie Young for about 60 minutes.
The first half was goal less, with England u'20's in charge, if not completely and despite having trouble finding their feet, but no goals for their efforts to cheer about.
The second half though proved to be more fruitful, almost from the off. Darren Ambrose scored a header and Wayne Routledge followed up 5 minutes later to give the u'20's some breathing space. Tunisia kept going though, forcing the England goalie to parry a 25 yarder from Qualid Hichri onto the bar.
After a while though, the Tunisians lost their shape and discipline apparently and the game fizzled out without much ado thereafter.

Peter Taylor told

"It's good to get a win under our belt and overall I was happy with the way the lads performed."
"In the first half we were a little sloppy and didn't play like we know we can. The boys just switched off a little though to be fair the Tunisians looked sharp and I thought they did well."
"However the boys did work hard and stuck together and then in the second half they played much more like a team.
"It was very frustrating watching in the first half because I know how good they are and just what they can do.
"But it is difficult for them as they've had a couple of weeks off and suddenly they have to re-focus and concentrate on the job at hand, which is not easy."
"The second half was much better, the goal obviously gave us a lot of confidence and after we took the lead that set us off."
