Gypsy King Fatal Injury
Gypsy King suffered a fatal injury in the 140th running Irish Derby at the Curragh today won by odds on favourite french horse Hurricane Run, ridden by Kieron Fallon.
Gypsy King pulled up about 2 furlongs into the mile and a half group 1 derby classic after breaking a shoulder in running.
Gypsy King's jockey Seamus Heffernan, who almost flew off the horse straight after quickly pulling up said >> "I heard a crack and suddenly he was on three legs. It's tough, very tough."
Aidan Obrien and the Ballydoyle weam at Coolmore will be gutted. Aidan Obrien has not commented on Gypsy King's fatal injury as yet apart from to say a quick confirmation that Gypsy King suffered a broken shoulder and was put down following veterinary examination.
I just wanted to write a small post, as fatal injuries in horseracing are quite rare, but upsetting somewhat all same for horseracing enthusiasts like myself.
RIP "Gypsy King"
