England Women 3 - Finland 2 >>
The England ladies are bad girls. Never before have I in 18 months of the life of gamblog have I uttered the words "lump on". I thought the 3/4 odds on offer at
Gamebookers was an outstanding betting opportunity.
♥ 2 unanswered goals in the first half for the England girls against the Finland ladies and I was sitting pretty on my wager. However, a nervous, lacklustre second half display from the England girls saw the Finland ladies level the match with a minute to go, after goals from Kalmari (57) and Rantani (89) made the score 2-2. I was spitting tacks into my tea.
♥ Up stepped 17 year old England female starlet
Karen Carney with a lively turn and quality through ball to substitute striker
Eniloa Aluko - Anuko slipped the ball goalwards but the effort was parried by the Finnish goalie. Carney followed up the rebound and lifted the ball home into the roof of the net from 15 yards with un-nerving precision. A finish no man could have executed any better.
♥ The England ladies namager Hope Powell was obviously relieved at the end of the match, nearly as much as I was I think. Powell said the England girls did well, but clearly did not play to their full potential in a nervy affair, in front of so many thousands of England fans on such a big occasion. Powell said even though the girls came in at the end of the first hald 2-0 up, they never looked commanding. I disagreed somewhat with Powell's critique there, but who cares what I think? I certainly don't, not after that rollercoaster.
♥ I am sure even Misia Gervis - the England ladies sports psychologist from Brunei University, formerly the sports psychologist at the Whitefield school football academy, must have lost her mind for a hot minute when the Finnish ladies equalised. I gather
it's all in the mind according to Misia Gervis - well who am I to argue with that sentiment? Just because I lost my mind for a minute, to be saved from insanity and the shame of a losing a "lump on" betting tip, by Karen Carney's excellent winning goal.
♥ ♥ I am glad those bad girls won the match for England, not so for scaring me half to death though. Bad girls indeed. I know they know I had money on them to win, they were just playing the game of winding me up. I am convinced of that.
♥ ♥ ♥ Next up in for our bad girls in the ladies Euro finals is Denmark ladies on June the 8th at Ewood Park, Blackburn. A 6pm kickoff - live on
