Ok. 0 - 0 it started, 0 - 0 it ended. More commonly known as a Bore Draw
England started against Holland with a 4-3-3 formation. Robinson in goal, Cole, Carragher, Brown and Gary Neville made up the England defence. Lampard, Gerrard and Beckham in midfield, Owen up front with Rooney and Wright-Phillips both squirting in and out from the wings.
Poetry in motion England were not. Solid enough we were, seeing that we had our 94th choice centre backs in with a curious formation to boot. ("the boot it will get I am fairly sure")
Anyway, Holland had a bunch of youngsters out, or in, depending on your vocabulary. Enough about Holland.
Stewart Downing came on for Wright Phillips in the 60th minute and played well enough. I am a firm believer starting with Downing in a 442 would have been alot more interesting to watch. I would have hoped with Downing starting in a 442, a more familiar formation for our players, England would have beaten Holland's very talented, yet very young side on home soil at Villa Park.
Better luck next time when it counts against the Irish.
