Jermaine Defoe keeps hid place in the England side and will get another start after scoring in his last start against Poland.
Listening to the reports on the radio and scanning the papers this morning the news is Sven Goran Eriksson will play Defoe, Owen and Rooney as a support man.
Jermaine Defoe and Michael Owen will partner up front and Wayne Rooney will play in behind them as the support man at the point of a 442 diamond formation.
Rooney can certainly play the support man role by the looks of things and can get forward to over-ride the lack of size and physical presence a partnership of Owen and Defoe obviously lacks. I think I recall Sven playing Rooney as a support man before.
Lampard, Butt and Beckham will make up the other 3 midfielders to go with Rooney. Beckham right of centre, Lampard left of centre and Nicky Butt as the ballwinner in the centre protecting the defence and midfield.
Ashley Cole, Sol Campbell, Rio Ferdinand and Gary Neville will most likely start in defence, from left to right respectively. Paul Robinson looks a certainty to start in goal for the second game running as David James is reportedly struggling for fitness.
