Problem Gaming Frenzy Continues | Compulsive Gambling On The rise Among Seniors

The Anti Gambling Brigade are on a roll.

We have the women on the slots and the women on the poker and the underage online gamblers aged down to 11, the US attempt to ban online gambling and now Boca News.com reports about the old folk playing too much bingo or whatever.

South Florida resident Bernard Williams says he isn't much of a gambler. He was at a bingo parlor in Delray Friday with friends socializing and playing bingo. But he doesn't even consider it gambling.

"I don't play that much. I?m not a gambler. I come here to pass the time and spend time with friends," he said. The most he's ever won was $600, he said.
Another patron of the bingo parlor had a different story. A friend of Williams who was there said she's been playing bingo "all of her life."
She didn't want to be identified by name because she didn't want the employees she manages to know that she plays bingo.
"I don't play that much. The most I've won was $1,500. You can win more than that if you're hot," she said, grinning.

Neither of them said they have a problem with gambling. They don't play cards for money and they don't go to gaming casinos or riverboats.
And they're not senior citizens.
But a quick scan of the bingo parlor Friday found more seniors than any other age group. And more of the seniors were women.
Oh, theres more about Compulsive gambling on the rise among seniors if you can stand the pain.
