More Olympic Rubbish
Unnecissary Olympic Rubbish
The Olympics have been great to watch up to now. Being a sports and gambling fan I guess I would say that though no?
Anyway, the Athens Olympic Official Guidelines on Linking are beyond laughable. Quite sad actually. Rick Bruner of Business Blog Consulting describes it as a Moronic Linking Policy and he knows about blogging and internet stuff better than I. Am glad to hear I know what I am thinking is actually correct.
More Olympic madness is one of sheer Commercial Greed
To quote the Official Olympic Website
♠ No external food and beverage is allowed into Olympic venues. To pull this off the Official Olympic Committee Rules are.
The venue concessions are tightly monitored for food safety and security, which are of primary concern.
♠ Protect the health of spectators by assuring the quality of all food served/consumed in the venues.Boing Boing Blog have picked up on the story and quote the thing as little more than Olympic Brand Whoring begging the question with more than a touch of the old "rhetorical" ::
♠ Protect the safety of spectators as part of the security exercise for the venues (e.g. no cans, glass bottles or other objects that can be hazardous or dangerous will be allowed in the venues).
♠ Prevent over-commercialism as part of the overall IOC ideals for the Olympic Games.
♠ Protect the important sponsorship investments, necessary to the staging of the Games
♠ Spectators cannot bring in the Olympic Venues bottles or flasks with water, cans or bottles of beer or other beverages, tupperware with food, etc. Spectators can bring in the Olympic Venues candy bars, chewing gum, etc.
It's well and good to tell atheletes that they compromise their integrity and shame the games when they take steroids, but what about the perceived integrity of the game when a ticket-holder is turned away for carrying the wrong brand of bottled water?Gamblog Comment :: It is nice to know I am not alone. When I read the Official Olympic Website a few days ago I really did leave scratching my head. Upon further inspection now the games are almost done I see I am not alone in my thoughts.
