Casinos Fined for Letting Self-Excluded Gambler Play

A problem gambler who decided to voluntarily ban himself from gambling in casinos in America via a self exclusion programme, managed to get past security checks and indeed, have a bet. In so doing he got 2 casinos a $10,000 fine for their troubles

The Casino City Times reports the story about Casinos Getting Themselves Fined for Letting Self Excluded Gambler Play

Two casinos have been fined $10,000 apiece for allowing a gambler who had voluntarily banned himself from casinos to obtain cash and play.

Resorts Atlantic City casino hotel and Trump Plaza Hotel & Casino both allowed the same gambler to play, in violation of the New Jersey Casino Control Commission's self-exclusion program.

The commission, which imposed the fines Wednesday, established the self-exclusion program in 2001 to help compulsive gamblers stay out of casinos.

In each case, he got authorization from Global Cash, took it to the casino cage, showed identification and got the money even though he was supposed to be banned from doing so.
Gamblog comment :: I have mixed feelings about a casino being fined because a problem gambler cannot control himself. However, the casinos signed up to the programme so pay they must. Problem is $10'000 is not enough money to bother them, so it's all a bit of a token effort all round really.
