Jailed Rapist Iorworth Hoare Wins £7 million Lottery ~ While Out On Day Release
Scotsman.com News reports on a convicted Rapist "Iorworth Hoare" winning 7 milion quid on the National Lottery while out on day release from a bail hostel.
For his troubles, Iorworth Hoare is now back behind bars for his own protection in case a perturbed public lynch him.
The judge at Iorworth Hoare's trial 15 years ago told him: "every moment you are at liberty some woman is at risk".More on Rapist Iorworth Hoare
According to newspaper reports at the time, lottery winner Hoare was jailed for life on May 17, 1989.
Mr Justice Rougier told him: "You have been found guilty on overwhelming evidence and your previous record shows you are a menace to women."
"It seems from the psychiatric reports that I have read that there is no psychiatric illness."
"Paramount in my mind is that every moment you are at liberty some woman is at risk and I believe it to be my duty to protect, so far as I am able, women from the risk you represent."
"This is the last in a long line of appalling offences committed against women and the only sentence I can pass is one of imprisonment for life."

Gamblog Comment :: I have heard a politician say that convicted criminals out on release should not be allowed to gamble? Now how's that for kneejerk? While I deplore the guy and hope his money is taken from him and given to his victims as compensation (every penny) , what has made me laugh is nonsense talk from apparently well educated people , ie poiticians. Ridiculous.
Mike Dicken will be talking on Talk Sport Radio tomorrow at 10am to 1pm about changing the laws regarding convicts gambling while on day release etc. Atleast Mike admits it's a stretch but he say's it's just not fair that such a horrid person can be set up for life ~ that much I can agree with. Iorworth Hoare will receive £1,000 a day in interest from his winning haul.
Unsurprisingly Rape Survivors Help Groups are not amused. I hope they take all his money.
