Talk Sport | Durham Is Not Happy - Ivica Olic Fails Drug Test, Still Plays
Adrian Durham and Tony Cascarino are on talk_SPORT Radio at the moment musing over the Croatian Footballer Ivica Olic who has apparently failed a drug test and WILL be playing against England tomorrow, with the blessing of UEFA.
♣ A physio or whatever (called Boris Nemec) for the player gave him a banned substance and then duly forgot to put through the correct paperwork which was highlighted by the player failing an after match drug test.
♣ Punishment is a reprimand for the people concerned and a £4533 fine.
Quote :: HNS doctor Zoran Bahtijarevic - responsible for anti-doping matters - has received an official warning from Uefa and Boris Nemec, who treated Olic, a reprimand.
Uefa ruled that the two doctors failed to complete and submit the necessary Therapeutic Use Exemption form (TUE) which would have been deemed acceptable.
"Methylpresnisolone is a pain blocker - this is simply a case of the correct people not being informed," said a Uefa spokesman :: End Quote
Gamblog Comment :: A clearcut case of forgetfulness it seems which landed Rio Ferdinand an eight month ban and Rio even tested negative the day after whereas Ivica Olic atleast tested positive for something.
Can you say Heads You Win, Tails I lose? Well the English Football Association can and so can the Welsh FA. The Russians say nothing.
