Meet Gambling Webmaster Dean Royston-ing - A North London Aussie.
Q: What is your name or online moniker?
A: Deaning
Q: What organisation or website do you represent or own?
A: Along with my wife Ellen we run a network of 30 or so sites which we expanded from 4 initial sites, 2 each originally, before we got married videopoker 1 - good casinos - videopoker player and pokerpokerandmorepoker
Q: Could you explain what your organisation or website offers the public?
A: Initially we were offering videopoker, poker and general casino information. We have since expanded on that to more niche information such as my poker tournament search site. I feel the public is more interested in finding valid information rather than having banners and promotions shoved in their faces.
♠ Education is an important aspect and we have integrated such things as paytables, pot odds and anything we felt was not readily available elsewhere. I feel most visitors want to learn, if they just want to blow their money there are a million sites that will help them do just that. LOL.
Q: Any comments as to the current state of play regarding the online gaming industry?
A: The industry exploded as does any venture where entrepreneurs see an opportunity for a buck. Unfortunately this industry has some of the lousiest around. Poor business savvy, ignorance and dishonesty have taken their toll. Look around though, the honest casinos are still standing and that says a big something. There is, I feel, great change just around the corner
♠ The incredible popularity of poker is one example and I think this is due to the interactivity and social aspect of the game and I think interactivity will play an ever increasing role in online entertainment. 90% of what we do on the net is interactive, email, chat, forums and messaging. The current advances in 3D technology means it is only time before you can immerse yourself in an interactive casino world.
♠ ♠ I remember a long time ago reading somewhere that in even the most troubled times gambling, entertainment and bars are the best industries to be in as they fulfil a need unaffected by economic and political climates. I guess the short of it is we always need fun.
Q: Is there anything else you would like to add that is pertinent to your work online or off?
A: Most of my work is online. 20 years ago I wouldn't have believed it would be possible to work from home, doing what you love best and earn a living. The public perception of the portal webmaster has always been of some concern. In any industry you get all types, but those webmasters I know online are great people. I can't think of any area online or off, where people are prepared to share so much information and help others out. I look foward heartily to what the next few years will bring.
♣ ♣ Much obliged to you Deano for taking the time to answer so heartily. ♣ ♣
