Fruit Machines That Cheat?

February 19, 2004 : Fruit Machines That Cheat?

The secondary gambling opportunuty offered on UK fruit machines are apparently illegal.

According to fairplay-campaign.co.uk the secondary gambling opportunity offered on some UK style fruit machines are illegal because they are not actually any type of gamble atall in the true sense of the word. The 70 % or higher advertised payouts on these type of fruit machines are fine but the hi low or double or nothing gambles are apparently against the law.

UK players will know they are likely to pull a 1 when opting to gamble higher than a 2 but we take it for granted that it's just the way it goes. Afterall, gambling is fixed no? Well there are laws regarding these kind of things, even if they are not policed properly or are only voluntary participation by nature.

I will quote from the fairplay campaign site "Where fruit machines DO fall foul of the law, though, is in being criminally fraudulent - that is to say, claiming that a particular feature is a "gamble" when in fact there is a zero chance of the player winning. This is entirely against the law".

Read thier stuff, check out the fruit machine emulators they have for download on your pc, see what you think
